Committee Members
Since 2015 community health funding has been distributed to Regional Districts as a response to Island Health’s desire to act on the Social Determinants of Health, at the community level, before people get sick.
The Strathcona Regional District supports the aims of Island Health by hosting the Community Health and Wellness Committee (CHWC), maintaining fiscal responsibility, managing a staff person who reports to the Committee and by driving community health initiatives in the region. The CHWC brings together partner organizations with diverse backgrounds to collaborate on these initiatives and provide expertise on best practise. The Committee members work together to highlight, engage, and act on emerging needs in the community related to the Social Determinants of Health.
