Connectivity

The Strathcona Regional District has initiated a Broadband Project called “The Connected Coast” that will service many rural and remote communities in our district. The Health Network actively sought letters of support to assist with the SRD's proposal.

Objective #5: Connectivity

Connectivity is an important way that communities share information, access expertise, and facilitate access to services. Many rural and remote communities in the Strathcona region either do not have broadband, cell coverage or both.

In 2017 the Strathcona Regional District submitted an application that would provide broadband coverage for a significant portion of remote and regional communities in the region.

Access to broadband and cell coverage, especially in remote and regional areas, was identified as a priority area at both Health Network forums.
